Home Health Benefits Of Plants

Research from top agencies like NASA has shown that plants are
able to absorb and filter airborn toxic chemicals from our
atmosphere. This is of particular benefit to those who work
inside says,  Dr. William Wolverton of NASA "low levels of chemicals
like carbon monoxideand formaldehyde can be removed from
indoor environments byplants alone
, while higher concentrations
of numerous toxic chemicals can be removed by filtering indoor air
through the plant roots surrounded by activated charcoal."

People in work environments are often subjected to toxic fumes.
Some offenders are emissions from carpets, furniture, office cleaning
products & copy machines. As well, the average office
worker breathes formadehyde from particle board, tissues &
paper towels & trichloroethylene(TCE) from inks & paints.
People who work in indoor environments can be inhaling over
300 contaminants a year.

What can you do about indoor pollution? Install plants to
clean your air!!
It has been determined that one plant per 100 square feet of floor space
can effectively clean the air in an average office or home. Virtually every
tropical and flowering plant can help produce quality
air indoors but as is often the case, some plants are more efficient
at this than others. "Star performers" include: spider plants, ivies, bamboo
palms, pothos, dracaenas, philodendrons, & spathphyllums-peace lillies.
All of these plants will thrive in a typical B.C. office.

To conclude, plants provide beauty, ambiance and a
sense of long-term stability to a business environment.
Now we also realize that they add to the health of an office
& its employees by improving air quality.
